Vogue Models
The Faces of Fashion
Ouch, time flies so fast, it hurts. Not only for supermodels, but also for super bookstore clerks like myself. Back in my days (I’m from ‘74) Cindy Crawford was the #1, starting The Stardom Of The Super Model. Looking at her now, I must say she looks a bit old-fashioned - gorgeous but in a nineties kind of way. The only one from those days still looking remarkably contemporary - besides Naomi Campbell, but we can’t count her in, because she will look the same in 2083, and that is not fair - is Helena Christensen. Her images from back in the days for some reason are not affected by time. Then again, I’m biased, because my all-time favorite photo is Helena Christensen by Anton Corbijn.
This Models A to Z was one we didn’t have in the already packed Books About Vogue segment. You would think publishers must have run out of Vogue related topics by now. Next thing you know publishers will seriously consider publishing Dogs In Vogue - but that ain’t gonna happen, or is it?
