I'm the kind of person that doesn't like being photographed. But even I would make an exception for Stefan Vanfleteren (Belgium, 1969). His work is mainly black and white. You could say it’s kinda depressing. But the way he plays with light is amazing - almost as if he throws drops of light over the people he portrays. This book Portret 1989 - 2009 contains 200 portraits of people who made some kind of contribution to Belgium or The Netherlands. This could be sports, politics, art or whatever. But to me it’s not about ‘who’. It’s about ‘how’. And the answer to that is: brilliant.
