The Splendor of Cuba
450 Years of Architecture and Interiors
Look, we don’t want to be moralizing or anything, but this book does feel a bit ambiguous. We chose it because it is a beauty from an inspirational and historical point of view. The colours, patterns and shapes breath an unparalleled atmosphere. But anyone who visited Cuba, and Havana in particular, knows this immaculate image is slightly surreal. Of course, you can tell it has been a city of enormous wealth, with numerous architectural treasures, but ever since the revolution time stood still in terms of architecture, infrastructure and maintenance. This splendor displayed in the book is therefore not typical for Cuba - it’s rather exceptional.
