Sumo
Helmut Newton
Helmut Newton (born as Helmut Neustädter in 1920) hit quite a few walls in his life. He had to flee from Germany in 1938. When he first started as a press photographer, he failed miserably. But when he finally got to Paris his career went through the roof. His provocative, dominant, voyeuristic ‘porn-chic’ has set a new standard. Settings full of diamonds, dollars, champagne, cars and loads of gorgeous women - preferably naked. The world had never see anything like it and feminist groups were not amused. Helmut couldn’t care less, as Erwin Olaf subtly highlighted in a Dutch tv show. The last wall was the one he accidentally drove his Cadillac into in 2004.
