Lingerie and books, believe it or not, have always had a difficult relationship. If a publisher decides to have the female beauty and nudity as the main perspective, there are always much better alternatives. But if you focus lingerie entirely it tends to become too commercial, too girly or to much of a fetish book, meaning your niche book ends up somewhere on one of the hidden shelves, nobody ever looks at. And you, as a publisher, definitely don’t want that. Given all this Daab has done everything right. It’s not too nude, but there is some nudity. It’s not too girly, but there is some girliness. It’s not too festishistic, but there is some fetishism. It’s beautifully designed, it has nice quotes and pretty pictures, but we can’t help wondering: for whom? You tell us.
