Power Platon

Power Platon is a book with portraits of people in power by photographer Platon - born in 1968 in London, raised in Greece and currently working and living in NY. Platon has a very recognizable style of portraying people. Extremely close-up (Martin Schoeller style), slightly from below, with a touch of fish eye and a school photography background. This leads to very raw, not too flattering portraits with lots of skin and way to much chin. It makes many of the presidents, prime ministers and emirs in the book look like caricatures of themselves. Frightening conclusions: the people in charge of our planet don’t look particularly healthy, among them are only four women and the friendliest face belongs to George W. Bush. The book was partially designed by George Lois.
