Playground
Jeroen Hofman
Playground is a photographic project from Dutch photographer Jeroen Hofman. Hofman portrays the grounds where the Dutch fire department, the police and the military are trained in realistic scenarios. The images, shot from above mostly from a crane, have something surreal to them, sometimes even funny. In these facilities it’s all just play. If you make a mistake, you get to try again. But one day it’s for real. The foreword is from Prof. Mr. Pieter van Vollenhoven. Not only is he our Queen’s brother in law and former chairman of The Dutch Safety Board, but also a photography enthusiast - he loves to shoot red deer at the crack of dawn. And by shooting we mean taking pictures. Anyway, we’re drifting away. Jeroen Hofman published the book by himself. That’s something we always applaud. Now let’s just hope terrorist movements don’t get their hands on this book because it will reveal all our skills.
