Peter Beard
Quite an amazing fellow, Peter Beard (New York, 1938). He’s good-looking, has rock stars, politicians, artists and super models as friends. He lives in the US and in Africa, he got trampled by elephants and he is world-famous for his life size collages. All elements of his life are represented in his work: photographs, dried leaves, clippings from newspapers, drawings from animals, quotes, found objects and even his own blood. Beautiful art? Fascinating might be a better word. And we were told that the artworks are very impressive when you see them in ‘real life’ - and jaw dropping impressive if you have to pay for them. If you’re into books about Africa, you must check Eyes over Africa and South Africa.
