New York In Color
This is a book we’ve been negelicting for a while, even though (or, because) Joeri kept on nagging about how beautiful it was. The reason for us ignoring it was rather superficial – the cover sucks. The typeface is lousy, and the title is, well... boring. On top of that the book is about New York, and about New York we’ve seen it all... we thought. But when we finally took the time to have a good look at this book, we were surprised to say the least. Page after page, we are amazed by these wonderful photographs, elegantly jumping from the 1940s to the Zeros, presenting a gorgeous, vibrant visual document of one of the world’s most appealing cities. Diana Vreeland is in there and even some of the images are also featured in Taschen’s book about New York. Beautiful.
