Anton Corbijn
Star Trak
Thinking of rare and original characters in music, names like Johnny Cash and Tom Waits come to mind. Thinking of photographers that captured those characters, there’s only one name: Anton Corbijn, born in Strijen, The Netherlands, a phenomena. In November 2011 Anton Corbijn won a prestigious Dutch prize for his entire works, presented to him by princess Maxima. Bono and Chris Martin were present to honor Corbijn and play some tunes while they were at it. That’s the kind of relationship Corbijn has with the people he portrays. In an interview Corbijn said he actually had a better relationship with Bono’s father than Bono has with his father. We’ve had his longtime bestseller Star Trak in our collection for ages and it’s most likely to stay there for much longer, for we love the raw portraits of Kate Moss, Bono, Bob Dylan, Sting, Martin Scorsese. But they all fade if you have seen portrait #20, Helena Christensen.
