Eve Arnold was born in April 1912 and died January 4, 2012. You’re right, you mathematical miracle - just before she turned 100. We can easily say she has been around for a while, and yet I had never heard of her - in spite the fact that I have a large Marylin Monroe portrait hanging in my hallway that was taken by Eve... that makes me a double idiot. Anyway. Eve was not just a celebrity photographer. In the 1950s she was one of the first women ever to join the Magnum Photos and she has had a divers career during which she photographed life in the US, Britain, USSR, Afghanistan and China and people ranging from children and manual labourers to heads of state and film start. Knowing this has instantly made my hallway much more impressive.
