Alber Elbaz
Lanvin
Alber Elbaz, Lanvin. Now, fashion addicts are already on their way purchasing this rare piece, so we can tell you about this remarkable combination. Alber Elbaz is a big-shot in fashion. In a nutshell: born in ‘66 in Morocco, immigrated to Israel, served in the Israeli Defense Forces and studied at the Shenkar College of Engineering and Design. After he moved to New York in 1985 Elbaz’ career took him from a mother-of-the-bride manufacturer to American fashion designer Geoffrey Been and from Guy Laroche to Yves Saint Laurent. In 2001 he took the big step to become artistic director for Lanvin in Paris, which is the oldest fashion house worldwide, and thanks to his hands-on manner, Lanvin is ready for decades to come – amongst others by appointing Lucas Ossendrijver from Amersfoort as head of menswear. Ten years of Elbaz’ loyal service and success was a reason enough for Lanvin to publish this very special book – handmade, bound in silk, with luxurious details including hand-gilded edging, engraved typography and black foil stamping on the spine and cover, and then we haven’t even opened it. This rare and highly collectible book can be purchased at Lanvin’s flagship stores, at Colette in Paris and – we say this with pride - at MENDO.
